Excited for this website to be created!

Hi everyone! If you’re looking at my website, I hope you like what you’re seeing so far. I’ve mostly used my Facebook (www.facebook.com/BoazCustomHarpsandRepair) and Instagram pages (www.instagram.com/BKimMusic) as my ways of getting out there besides from, “word of mouth.” Many people have told me to get a website going, and they’re right.

First off, I want to say the obvious that 2020 so far has been really tough for everyone and that I hope you and your family are okay. Like many people, especially full time musicians, I’ve lost gigs in April until August.  While it has been depressing with the national news and COVID, I’m fortunate to have people in my life to help maintain my mental well-being. I’m so lucky to have my health, and able to have some income thanks to teaching all of my lessons through Skype and Zoom. I certainly miss seeing my in-person students but glad that technology allows us to have an effective way to teach!

One big announcement is I will be performing with Blues Harmonica legend, Steve Guyger, for this year’s SPAH Week. SPAH (The Society for the Preservation and Advancement of the Harmonica) is a wonderful organization that I’ve been a member of since 2018. I met many musicians and manufactures from all over the world, all brought together to talk about the free-reed instrument and music! Thankfully they have chosen the online route for this year. I’ve jammed with Steve several times since, I think, 2017. He lives within an hour from me so it wasn’t too much of a trip to see some of his shows and his weekly blues jam. His harmonica playing is phenomenal and I think his singing sounds very similar to Big Walter Horton’s. Once again, I am so honored to be given another performance spotlight with SPAH!

That’s it for now. I need to get back into my workshop to finish some harmonicas and then to upload supplementary lessons for my students. Take care and be well!
